Pre-Existence [Part I]: Neopets & Freewebs
The idea of Snookumz came to me at age 11 during the time when Neopets guilds were
beginning to require more and more skills and creativity- something I lacked.
So teaching herself how to code and make graphics I tried to keep up with the latest
trends in Neopets guilds. Her latest guild ownership, led me to create a
website for its member.
Soon after creating the guild website two things were noticed:
- The website looked like crap (premade and all)
- layouts and all)Web designing was quite fun.
With the realization of this the first attempt at a website came with the help of
freewebs.com.
I actually started out more so into the coding aspect of web design. (I remember
the excitement of learning how to change the scrollbar colors) The first site I
ever made was for a guild on neo called Faeries Inc. and it was on hometown AOL.
I think it's still around. Also around that time I decided to make a graphics
site. I called Painted Roses because...well I don't know. Well, it was cool, people
visited and stuff but no one really used any graphics. I know now that it's because
they looked like crap. Anyway, I realized that this wasn't really going
anywhere and my guild was (90+ members at the time) so I got rid of Painted
Roses and went back to maintaining my guild.
About a year or two later I decided to start back with graphic sites (My graphics got
better, by the way!) I this time though, I collaborated with another kid and we
made a site called Graphical Faeries this time on Freewebs. Well we made the
site and with other various staff. It was almost as bad as Painted Roses minus
the fact that we got 1 request and some of the background had been used.
